Hey! That's my very first aircraft that I ever bought! I bought this Super Decathlon new from the factory, just after Bellanca had shut down. I began instructing aerobatics in it here in Oklahoma City. Right at 32 hours from absolutely brand-new, I had landed it and tied it down at my spot at Expressaay Airpark (because there weren't any T-hangers available yet), and was on my way home. As I left the airport, I saw a Waco biplane running up at the end of the runway. By the time I got home, the phone was ringing, and they told me the Waco had lost control on takeoff...left the runway...skipped a ditch...skipped the taxiway...and hit my plane head-on!! No fatalities, thank goodness. The tail was broken sideways (because it was tied down), the prop had been almost cut off, the left wing was destroyed, and it was a mess!! My insurance company totalled it, and I got a new one. But I always wondered what happened to my first plane! I loved it, and it was named "Crazy Mary", after my mother-in-law! Dan
