Opened in 1942 for use by the RAF Bomber Command using aircraft such as Wellingtons, Lancasters and Blenheims. After the war it was used for stoarge until closing in 1957. Today it is used for storage and light industry with four RAF C130 Hercules arriving here by road from Lyneham after being scrapped
