ZS-HMD This Bell 222B (cn 47132) was temporarily dressed up as 'Airwolf' for the annual 'Arrive Alive Road Safety Campaign' in South Africa in 1987. The helicopter is nowadays registered as OY-HIG with 'Air Alpha' in Denmark. The Bell 222A used in the actual filming of the TV Series (c/n 47085) eventually ended up in Germany as D-HHSD, but sadly, it was destroyed in a fatal accident in June 1991. (more of ZS-HMD)

D-HEUR Approximately 10 minutes after having returned from the first call-out of the day, "Christoph 31" is seen "burning and turning" again in preparation for the second call-out of the day. What can I say: Just another "normal" day at the office for the crew of "Christoph 31". (more of D-HEUR)

ZS-HSD This helicopter is one of only two MBB/Kawasaki BK-117's operated by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Airwing. It usually is based in Pretoria, but for some reason, it spent all of December at Rand Airport near Johannesburg being used for all sorts of crime prevention flights. (more of ZS-HSD)

ZS-RSR This helicopter formerly known as "Echo 1" when it still was based at the Johannesburg Hospital, is now known as "Netcare 2". It is based at Grand Central full-time, but only is used during the night time (i.e. from sunset to sunrise). During the daytime, a Eurocopter AS-350 B2, known as "Netcare 1", takes over from it again. (more of ZS-RSR)

ZS-RHW "Vodacom Rescue 1" is usually operated as one of the "Netcare 911" EMS helicopters in Gauteng by "Helimax". It had just received all the decals you see stuck on it for the December Holiday period. Two days after I took this picture, it was sent down to Durban, where it then took up it's service as one of the "Netcare 911/Vodacom Surf Rescue Helicopters". (more of ZS-RHW)
