N7227C 'Texas Raiders' is one of only 13 'Flying Fortresses' which are in a airworthy condition. It has been recognized by AIR CLASSICS magazine as the best restored B-17G bomber currently flying in the world. Operdated by the Commemorative Air Force - Gulf Coast Wing. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Corps on July 12, 1945. This 'Flying Fortress' became airworthy on October 14, 2009 after a long "AD" (Airworthiness Directive). Special thanks to the Gulf Coast Wing for this perfect day. Four Wright R-1820-97, 1000 horsepower radial engines. using exhaust driven superchargers, each engine is capable of approximately 1200 horsepower. (mehr von N7227C)
